There’s more to Pinocchio than a long wooden nose!
The Anselm Society Book Club is beginning an adventure through the unabridged version of the 1883 classic novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio. If a board book or the Disney kid flick is your only experience of the little willful wooden guy, you’re in for a surprise!
Join us Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 6:30 PM. (NOTE: This is a week later than our regular third-Saturday meeting day.). We’ll jump into Pinocchio’s “Prodigal Son”-like adventures.
The club is open to all, whether or not you've read the book. For information, the location (near downtown), or to RSVP, send a note to anita@anselmsociety.org. Bring a snack to share if you can!
Pinocchio can be found for free online in a variety of places, including Project Gutenberg.
Bonus Point: We’ll be getting a jump on the Pub Night the Anselm Society has planned in November around the theme of Subcreation, which will include a retelling of “Pinocchio”!
The Common Room is a regular Anselm Society community gathering for study or creating, in the company of likeminded souls doing the same.
Join us for an evening of food, drink, and fellowship centered on Supper of the Lamb by Robert Farrar Capon.
Join like-minded friends, tea cup in hand, for a genial conversation about truth, beauty, and goodness.
Psst! Got a favorite book
that was once banned?
Bring it to share, and go
home with a new one.
Join like-minded friends, tea cup in hand, for a genial conversation about Anselm’s summer theme and ordinary time.
Join us for an evening of songs, stories, short skits, poetry, and s’mores around the campfire.
Continuing an Anselm Society tradition, we’ll gather a couple dozen people to enjoy reading a Shakespeare play together (“Twelfth Night”).
