Attending this retreat was as if I stumbled upon a meadow, walked into it, and found my tribe! I started composing this week for the first time in ... I don’t know how long.
— Artists Retreat Attendee

Every year the Anselm Society of Colorado Springs, Colorado, holds an artists’ retreat, to gather and nourish the creatives among us. This year, due to COVID-19, the Rocky Mountain Artists Retreat 2020 may have had a limited number of in-person attendees, but the enthusiasm was unlimited. And now the presentations will be available digitally in a special arrangement for passholders October 1, 2020, to November 14, 2020.

The Rocky Mountain Artists Retreat 2020, held September 12, 2020, at Glen Eyrie Castle, explored a theme apropos to the time we are living in: "Light for a Dark Time: Creating in Community."

If you were not able to attend the retreat held in the beautiful Great Hall, you can purchase access to the unique and enriching digital material for a modest fee by visiting this event registration page>>

Comments from in-person attendees were effusive. One person sent this note: "Attending this retreat was as if I stumbled upon a meadow, walked into it, and found my tribe! I started composing this week for the first time in ... I don't know how long."

One of the speakers is Diana Pavlac Glyer, a leading expert on C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, who discusses the collaboration of the Inklings as a model for what it means to support one another in the work God has called us to do. Glyer is author of "Bandersnatch: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and the Creative Collaboration of the Inklings."

Passholders will also hear from:

  • Singer-songwriter/storyteller Matthew Clark, on "Creating in the Dark, by the Light of a Face."

  • Heidi White, Anselm Society Board Member, on "Courage in Artistry."

  • Amy Lee, co-director of the Anselm Society Arts Guild, on "Linking Lights: A Portrait of Artists in Conversation."

  • Pastor Ken Robertson, on "Art and the Apocalypse" (Does what I’m doing even matter?)

You may be a patron of the arts, an arts scholar, an aspiring or working artist of any kind, the exceptional material from this year's retreat will help you explore the way God uses the imagination to enrich your approach to Him and in the context of community.
